4 Favorite Books & Teas for Last-Minute Gift Giving

As we enter the final frenzied countdown to the holidays, it’s easy to forget that once we get to the other side of it, most of us are going to need a little time to recover from all the action! For me, and my friends up here in snow country as well as those from my years in the UK, there’s nothing better than a good read and a wonderful cup of tea to unwind on a cold winter’s night. It’s almost enough to make one look forward to January!

With this in mind, I wanted to share with you four of my favorite inspirational winter reads that make wonderful gifts for others as well as yourself! So find a comfy chair, brew up a cup of health-supporting tea and dig in! These wisdom-filled books will help keep you cozy as you wait for the coming of spring!

1) What a Plant Knows: A Field Guide to the Senses by Daniel Chamovitz
A lovely blend of fascinating botanical science and whimsy, I love the way this book examines our intimate connection with the natural world, reminding us that plants have senses and awareness, and are in their way, wise and knowing creatures. It also explores our similarities, genetic and otherwise, to show us how plants and humans are more similar that we realize, and treating them well benefits us all. You’ll gain a wonderful new perspective on all that grows and respect for nature’s genius.

A cozy companion: A little healing help for the body from the flowers -- Celebration Herbal Teas Organic Hibiscus Tea, which is known to offer cardio-vascular and blood pressure benefits.

2) Transitions: Making Sense of Life’s Changes by Julia Cameron

This is one of those eternally useful and inspiring books that I turn to again and again, particularly to whenever I need to shift my perspective or get out of a rut.  It has many profound and useful tips to help lift your spirits and help you cope with those challenging times in life when clarity can seem elusive.

A cozy companion: The antidote to rising stress levels, a calming cup of Alvita Caffeine-Free Alfalfa Leaf Tea, which can help manage blood sugar.

3) The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Baiermeister

A sweet, beautifully written novel that chronicles the lives of a group of students who come together, sharing the stories and lessons of their lives as they bond over the experience of cooking, tasting and creating in the kitchen. It’s a moving, soulful tale of food, love and friendship – three themes which are to me the essential ingredients to a wonderful life!

A cozy companion: Traditional Medicinals Organic Herbal Lemon Balm Tea, which is known to have a light mood-lifting effect – most welcome in wintertime!

4) The Swift Diet: 4 Weeks to Mend the Belly, Lose the Weight, and Get Rid of the Bloat by Kathie Swift

Shameless plug, I know, but I encourage you to enjoy and savor my latest book, The Swift Diet – it’s the ultimate, science-based guide to support your microbiome and all the cells in your body with foods that will make you feel great every day. As I always say, life is too short to feel lousy, and with The Swift Diet, you won’t have to! So you can feel great every day.

A cozy companion: Starwest Botanicals Organic Dandelion Tea, which can be helpful as a digestive aid.

Have a wonderful holiday season and may the coming days be joyous ones!
